One of the 12 American junior golfers traveling to Rome in September to compete for the 2023 United States Junior Ryder Cup Team is Gianna Clemente of Estero.
The youngest female golfer competing in the event, which takes place from September 26 to 28, is 15-year-old Clemente.
Miles Russell, a 14-year-old from Jacksonville Beach, is the youngest of the team's twelve members.
The team's final members were revealed on Tuesday. Clemente's three-stroke victory at the Junior PGA Championship earlier this month earned her an automatic spot in the Junior Ryder Cup.
Following her victory at the Junior PGA, Clemente remarked of the Ryder Cup, "I've been thinking about it for years. "
I'm quite sure I hung a piece of paper with the words Ryder Cup on it three years ago because I wanted the team so much.
I think I was 12 or 13 years old when I did that. I've been anticipating it for ages. It's very significant to me. It will be a lot of fun.
Along with Ryleigh Knaub, a 16-year-old golfer from Debary, and Russell, she is one of three Florida players on the squad.
